Cups are approximate (density varies); grams are exact. Water-ratio columns show expert-tested values per cooking method.

Dry rice per serving is constant across cooking methods — only the water changes. Stovetop: highest water (most evaporation through the lid). Basic rice cookers: slightly less — the thermostat cycles loosely and vents some steam. Fuzzy-logic and induction models: 8–12% less than basic — precise heat control holds a steadier simmer with minimal steam loss. Pressure cookers (stovetop and electric): lowest of all — the sealed environment traps nearly all steam, so almost no water is lost. Ratios from expert kitchen testing. Always rinse rice until the water runs mostly clear. Adjust water ±1 tbsp per cup to taste and altitude.
