The 6-in-1 multi-functions can handle anything from slow cooking to sautéing, and from steaming steam vegetables to making yogurt, making it perfect for juggling a busy day. The built-in scale allows for much easier and more precise measurement along with large LED display for convenient function switching and easy cooking process. We tried cooking rice, steam veggies using the app and voice control feature and the results are below:
RICE
We started with making Basmati rice in this cooker. Used the included cup, rinsed the rice and then fill to the correct line with water. It came out great. Perfectly cooked, light and fluffy. No burning on the bottom. The cooker automatically determines how long it will take to cook a rice perfectly well by assessing the quantity of the raw rice. If you download the App, it lets you set the time and temperature and tells you how long it will take to cook a rice so that one can time the rest of the food preps.
APP AND VOICE CONTROL
What’s really cool is the app that comes with it. Loaded with 33 recipes for diverse dishes. It’s like having a cooking coach right in your palm. The app is simple and functional. It send notifications to your phone and you can stop or change the setting through your phone.
For voice control feature it easily connects with Google Home or Alexa. We integrated the cooker with Google Home. Through Google we told it to “set the rice cooker to rice” and it successfully started the rice cycle.
The best thing about the app is that settings changed in the app are remembered by the rice cooker so if you start it from the buttons on the rice cooker it will have the same settings as the last time you used that function from the app.
SCALE
The built-in scale is handful feature that allows for much easier and more precise measurement and adjusts the cooking time based upon weight.
STEAM FUNCTION
We steamed vegetables with this cooker. The steam function is very smart. It counts the time after it reaches steaming temperature and shut off after the timer finishes.
What we didn’t like: GoveeLife Smart Rice Cooker is a cost-effective solution to hands-free cooking that comes with an app and multiple setting options. It is large enough for a family or events and dishwasher safe. The rice cooker uses advance technology to automatically adjust cooking time and temperature depending upon the type of grain you’re preparing, but it still lacks in some basic functions that are found in some premium models, such as pressure cooking function. Also, while testing the product we found that:
RICE COOKING TIME
It takes longer cooking times compared to other models, but the rice came out perfectly well. It takes approximately 1 hour to make one batch of rice depending upon the type of rice.
APP
While the app is a helpful companion, it lacks the ability to create custom recipes, including specific ingredients. It would be immensely beneficial if the app allowed users to create and save custom recipes.
VOICE CONTROLLED
Even though it is advertised as smart voice controlled using Alexa and Google home. But there are some drawbacks. Firstly, you need to have a strong wifi signal to connect to the rice cooker.
Second, with Alexa you can only change cooking modes. You cannot ask Alexa how much time is left and when the cooking finishes.

What we liked: The Instant Pot Pro plus Wi-Fi Smart is an intelligent multi-cooker designed to make meal preparation effortless. But its standout feature is the Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing users to control it from anywhere via the Instant Pot app. Whether you’re at work, running errands, or relaxing on the couch, you can adjust settings, monitor progress, and ensure your meal is cooked just the way you like it.

The bluetooth/wireless app connectivity feature is a high tech touch where you have the ability to turn on the cooker while you’re away from home and the phone app gives notifications when the pre-heating is done. You can pick a recipe on the app and follow it. Then click the button on the app to start cooking and the app sets the pot and does it all. Set it and leave it.
We started with the water test, used the app to make hard boiled eggs. It is helpful to be able to see the cooking progress on the cell phone app while I do other things in the house. It lets me know when the cooking process is over, so I do not have to constantly check the pot in the kitchen.
NUTRI-BOOST
They also have a feature called “Nutriboost”. This is simply a feature where the cooker lets out steam periodically.
We tried making rice through this feature and it turned out to be excellent. The rice tastes so good.
PRESSURE COOKER
The pro plus WiFi features the ability to monitor and adjust all settings, even venting. No more worries about burning ones hand when doing a Quick Release because you can vent the Pro Plus right from the mobile app.
We tried the auto venting feature using eggs. Hard boiled eggs within four minutes with a pulse release. If you like soft yokes, drop the cook time to 3 minutes.
What we didn’t like: Considering its advanced features, versatility, and the convenience it offers, the Instant Pot Pro Plus Wi-Fi Smart is definitely worth the investment for anyone looking to enhance their cooking experience. While it comes at a premium price point compared to traditional Instant Pots, the added functionalities, like Wi-Fi control, touchscreen interface, and customizable settings makes it a worthwhile purchase for tech-savvy cooks and busy households. But with all the high tech features it offers it still lacks in some areas that we discovered while testing the product:
NO VOICE CONTROL
Even though it is priced at a premium side. Still it lacks voice control feature that can easily connect with Google Home or Alexa.
APP
Advertised as 800+ recipes, one could image that you can add your own modified recipes in the app. But it does not work that way. You can’t add your recipes to the app. Most of the recipes have few reviews and most are given the rating less than 5. This isn’t like All Recipes.
FOOD BURN ALARM
When the food burn sensor trips the machine, it automatically releases the pressure and shuts off, regardless of what it in the pot. This is where the app connectivity feature becomes useless, because when it alarms, you cannot restart the cooker from the app. You have to manually restart the cooking process. There is no option to disable or ignore the sensor. This completely defeats the purpose of having a smart rice cooker.
Recipe Videos Integrated: CHEF iQ Smart Pressure Cooker
RICE
For us, the best way to compare the CHEF iQ Smart Pressure Cooker with other pressure cookers, was to cook rice. The built in scale told us how much rice was in the cooker and calculated the amount of water. We used the app to start the process. We made a simple white rice, but still the app told us how the cooking process was going. The unit automatically let off the steam when it was done and indicated that there would be a loud noise. The rest turned out to be better. The texture was firm and there was no softness. There were no burning at the bottom of the nonstick pot.
Also, we learned that it took less time to cook rice. A standard pressure cooker takes about 12 to 15 minutes to cook rice and some time the rice comes out either watery or sticky. CHEF iQ took approximately 10 minutes and the rice came out perfectly firm with no stickiness.
APP
The cooker connects to an app that provides a great set of recipes. The wide selection of recipes provide step-by-step cooking instructions. The recipes continuously gets updated. The app provide recipes and automatically configure the device to cook the desired recipe.
Not only that, the app has settings that recommend cooking methods and time. Simply enter the recipe and its individual ingredients. Then enter either a weight or thickness, quantity and whether it is frozen or fresh. The app will recommend the cooking method and time.
VIDEOS
Recipes in the app comes with step by step videos. Videos helps you see the final product, helping in trying new stuff.
INTEGRATED SCALE
The built-in scale is a game changer. This handy feature is a great addition it not just weighs the ingredients it even determines the ratios of the food.
AUTOMATIC PRESSURE RELEASE PROGRAM
The cooker auto releases pressure through natural, total or pulse methods either with keep warm on or off. Once you set it to release after a preset period of time, it does release the pressure. Hence there is no need of hovering around the machine to release the pressure. The cooker does it automatically.
SOUS VIDE
One of the features that really stood out for us was the sous vide function. if you want to sous vide your meat, and you think it required pricy hardware. The CHEF IQ, sous vide mode makes it accessible and easy to use.
To test the sous vide mode, we tried to make chicken soup. After connecting the cooker with app we typed chicken soup, hit the start button on the app. The app prompted us to prep all the required ingredients. Then we started the cooker and it automatically went to the sauté function.
The app instructed us to add meat and butter in the pot and hit the timer start on the app which timed down three minutes. Then it instructed us to add the carrots, celery and onion again start the timer on the app. After adding all the ingredients, it instructed us to close the lid and went right to pressure letting me know it would take around 12 minutes. At the end of cook time it automatically released pressure in a pulsing manner. The app let us know it was done and instructed to open the ChefIQ and stir. All done. About 1/2 hour after prep until done soup. And it’s delicious! I can wait to try other recipes and the app is loaded with recipes. Awesome!
RICE
Also, the menu has no dedicated settings for Jasmine Rice. We used long grain settings to cook jasmine rice which did not turned out to be as good as it should have.
APP
Sometimes, Initial setup of the app and connecting it with cooker can be a bit complex. For every ones knowledge, much of the smart functions of the cooker depends upon Wi-Fi, so if you do not have a strong signal going into your kitchen, the pot will stop mid-recipe and you will have to start over.
NO RECIPE MODIFICATION
Recipes are rigid and one cannot edit, change or save them according to their preferences.
Cannot create custom favorites. If one wants to create their own manual settings and label it accordingly, the app or the cooker does not have the option to do so. One has to memorize the settings.
QUANTITY PROBLEM
To our surprise, all the recipes in the app are pre-designed to feed the family of 4 and larger and are calculated according to certain weight and quantity. So if you decided to cook less, the cooker won’t weigh the items or adjust the required amount of liquid and time for the pressure cooking.
